The most recent version of avast’s free review windows is fresh and clean with clear sections for each of the suite’s tools. However, the large amount of white space has meant that some features are hidden; the homepage offers you quick shortcuts to perform scans or activate the VPN, for example as well as links to a few less-than-util system optimisation tools, too but the majority of the program’s features are tucked away under the Explore tab. Installation is simple and easy and there’s not any pressure to upgrade. However the initial scan will identify the more complicated issues that need to be resolved by the purchase of a premium membership. This is a point that Which? addressed in its report for 2020.
